QR codes. What now?

Written by: Posted in: Business blog, Web Tips

You may have read our article ‘from the fishbowl’ about QR codes, if not view it HERE. So what’s the next step?

The next step is understanding what can be achieved with landing pages. This is where the QR code sends you when you scan a URL. A simple example would be a QR code to send someone to the ‘Find Us’ page on your website, for directions. Another could be an ‘enter our competition’ page.

So you understand any page can be used as a landing page, now here’s the clever bit, monitoring how many people use your code (you should always monitor the results of any marketing you undertake). To do this simply put ?Src=QR at the end of your URL ie http://www.cagedfish.co.uk/?Src=QR. This will make the URL specific to the QR code and can be tracked via your Google analytics code (what, you don’t have Google analytics on your site? Shame on you)

The part after your URL can be anything, but should always start with a question mark and have an equals sign (no spaces). So another example could be ?WhereFrom=NewspaperAdvert.

This is extremely useful for monitoring how your QR codes are working for you.

Again, happy QR-ing
